NYC Woman Cleared Of Charges In Bronx Balcony Death

CBS New York

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — A New York City woman accused of chasing a woman to her death from a 14th floor balcony has been acquitted of all charges.

A jury in the Bronx failed to convict Kenya Edmonds Monday in the 2012 death of 30-year-old Sienna Edwards.

According to police, Edmonds was attending her daughter’s third birthday party at the Clinton Towers apartments in 2012 when Edwards showed up with a gift from the girl’s dad against whom Edmonds had a restraining order.

Police said that at some point, Edwards made a call to 911 seeking help. The 911 operator had already sent a squad car to the nearest cell tower where Edwards secretly called 911 and picked up the women allegedly threatening her.

Prosecutors alleged Edmonds then threatened Edwards with a knife during an argument. Edwards fled to the balcony, where she fell or was pushed, prosecutors said.

Edmonds’ attorney said no DNA evidence supported the knife claim.
