Thousands of people are feared dead after a major earthquake rocked Haiti.
In the space of about one minute, the most powerful quake to hit the Caribbean Island in 200 years toppled buildings, wreaking havoc.
The US Geological Survey measured the massive tremor at 7 magnitude. However its shallowness is thought to have magnified the destruction.
The epicentre was a mere 10 kilometres from the capital Port-au-Prince, causing chaos among the city’s one million residents.
A huge cloud of dust descended following the disaster with powerful aftershocks throughout the night prompting several large fires.
