A teenage girl was killed when a bus carrying dozens of Dutch students crashed north of Barcelona.
As many as 20 others were injured, some of them seriously. The bus, carrying 60 students and staff from Nijmegen, flipped over on a motorway exit in the town of Bascara in the Girona region.
The tour operator, Lanting Reizen, say the driver was surprised by something crossing the road and as he swerved to avoid it the vehicle tipped over.
The students were on an educational visit to Spain.
Efforts are now underway to get the teenagers and teachers back to the Netherlands as quickly as possible.
It is the second deadly bus crash involving Dutch tourists travelling in Catalonia in recent times.
In July a bus carrying 67 people collided with a car, leaving six dead and 39 injured
