House Fire Leaves 3 Dead, 2 Childen Injured

An early morning Long Island house fire has left three dead and two children injured Tuesday.

The fire at 46 Hickory Street in Central Islip was reported at 5:37am. Firefighters from nearby towns of Islip Terrace, Hauppauge, Brentwood, Lakeland and East Brentwood were also called to the scene to help battle the blaze, which was declared under control at 6:53am.

The names of the victims were not immediately released, but Suffolk County police say three people were killed and two children were transported to area hospitals in unknown condition.

It is unclear how many people live or were at the residence at the time of the fire.

Homicide and arson investigators were called to the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
